
Venue & Parking
The 655-seat Vancouver Playhouse Theatre is owned by the City of Vancouver and operated by Vancouver Civic Theatres. The Playhouse Theatre Company has been the major resident company of the Vancouver Playhouse since the theatre opened in 1962.
WHERE
All performances are held at the Vancouver Playhouse Theatre, located in downtown Vancouver on Hamilton and Dunsmuir. The Vancouver Playhouse Theatre is situated next to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. See map.
WHEN
Evening performances begin at 8:00pm. Matinee performances begin at 2:00pm. Enhanced performances begin as follows: Salon Saturdays at 1:00 pm, one hour before show-time; Tea Matinees at 1:00pm (complimentary tea, coffe and cookies served), one hour before show-time; Talkback Series at 8:00pm, with a Q&A period following a performance. Dedicated Wednesday Student Matinee performance begins at 1:00pm.
THEATRE ETIQUETTE
- Seating is assigned. Please sit in your assigned seat and respect the fact that other seats have been reserved for other patrons.
- Latecomers are seated at the discretion of the Playhouse Theatre staff; otherwise, they may take their seat at intermission.
- A note to student groups: If you are unable to attend the dedicated Wednesday student matinee we are happy to book you into one of our other matinee performances. If you are booking a Tea Matinee performance instead, please note that many of our senior patrons attend these events. We are grateful for your cooperation.
- All performances are for patrons aged 6 years and up (any exceptions will be announced).
- As a courtesy to performers and patrons, all pagers, phones, cameras and other recording and noise making devices should be turned off. This regulation is strictly enforced.
- No outside food or drink is permitted inside the theatre. Also, audience members should be aware that heavy perfumes and colognes may also disturb others.
PARKING
As a FIVE-PLAY SUBSCRIBER to our MATINEE shows on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, we are pleased to be able to offer you an option of purchasing a parking pass for the in-complex underground parking. The parking pass is $35 and is valid during all five matinee performances, which you are subscribed to. Alternatively, a number of parking sites are conveniently located near the Playhouse Theatre:
- In-complex underground parkade is open during all our performances (evening and matinee). Enter from 600 block Cambie St. going South. | 248 stalls (Please note: this parking is particularly busy during our evening performances.) Library Square: 775 Hamilton St. Enter from 700 block Hamilton St. | 500 stalls
- 150 West Pender at Cambie St. | 500 stalls
- 688 Cambie St. Enter from 600 block Cambie St. going South and 100 block Georgia St. going East. Two ground level parking lots across from the back of the QET/Playhouse complex. | 275 stalls
- 535 Richards St. at Dunsmuir | 300 stalls
- Sandman Inn. Enter from 700 block Cambie going South or 700 block Beatty going North.
- Georgian Court Hotel. Enter from 700 block Beatty St. going North.
- 111 Dunsmuir. Enter from 500 block Cambie St. going North.
- Parkade @ Beatty and Pender. Enter from 100 block W. Pender.
- Metered street parking is in fair supply in the area. All metered parking in the downtown core is free after 8pm.
Please note: Downtown Vancouver parking can sometimes be scarce, especially if there is an event at GM Place and the Queen Elizabeth Theatre at the same time as our performance. For evening performances, we recommend that you secure your parking spot earlier or park outside the downtown core and take a taxi or transit, if possible.
RESERVED PARKING FOR DISABLED PATRONS
Patrons with a valid DISABLED DECAL may reserve a disabled parking space in the QET Parkade by calling 604 665 3050 at least 24 hours prior to the performance. Limited spaces available: first come, first served.
ACCESSIBILITY
Limited wheelchair seating is available in a designated section of the theatre. These seats can be booked ahead of time as regular single tickets. Please call 604 873 3311 to make reservations. Those accompanying wheelchair patrons can be seated in the row directly in front of the wheelchair row.
HEARING IMPAIRED
Sennheiser Infrared Transmission receivers are available, free of charge, for the hearing impaired are available at the Theatre coat check.
LOST AND FOUND
Please call Civic Theatres at 604 665 3050 if you left, lost or found something at the theatre or need to report an emergency.

In case of emergency, call Front of House Manager at 604.665.3037. You will be asked to provide your exact seat location.
