Nominate your student for the "Darlene S. Howard Award for Excellence in the Arts" 2011!
Darlene S. Howard Award
...FOR EXCELLENCE IN THE ARTS 2011!
School programs in the arts help young people establish an interest in theatre and community involvement. The arts help build citizens who have the opportunity to contribute to their community. Darlene Howard* is one such person and The Darlene S. Howard Award for Excellence in the Arts recognizes and fosters others who themselves demonstrate the same inspired participation in the arts as Darlene Howard has done and continues to do.
Each year, we recognize two students for their excellence in two disciplines - one in music and one in theatre - with a $500 award for each winner. Nominations can be submitted by any secondary school teacher in Metro Vancouver.
Requirements:
1. A one-page letter from teachers: Why the student should be recognized and awarded in the discipline of music or theatre, and
2. A one-page letter from the students (Grade 11-12) about their future plans in the arts
2012 nominations are accepted through to March 23, 2012 via email only at mwickes@vancouverplayhouse.com. Darlene S. Howard Award for Excellence in the Arts will be awarded at our Annual Teacher Appreciation Evening in April 2012.
